Newcastle United aim for back-to-back wins when they visit the Robins.
The Magpies travel to Aston Gate on something of a high after smashing Reading 4-1 at St James's Park on Wednesday to pick up their first win of the Championship season and remind the cynics why they were pre-season favourites for promotion.
Gayle, who scored in last week's 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town, struck twice against the Royals as the former Crystal Palace man begins to pay back the £11 million spent on him last month.
With three goals in his last two games, Holloway is backing the talisman to continue his red-hot form and believes Newcastle will have a little too much for the Robins this weekend.
"I think Newcastle will be too strong after ripping that monkey off their back and beating Reading 4-1 in midweek," he told Sky Sports.
"It's difficult to predict things at the moment because there's no form to go on, and last year Bristol City did well against the tougher clubs, but Newcastle are my tip for the top.
"On a huge Aston Gate pitch, I can see Dwight Gayle running riot."
It was a very decent first win on Wednesday for the Magpies, but it was arguably tad flattering all the same.
Reading might have been the better side for large spells, but manager Rafael Benitez will be praying that it is a watershed moment in a slow season rather than a false dawn.
