Sunderland defender Younes Kaboul has told the Chronicle that Adnan Januzaj will give the Black Cats the X Factor.

The midfielder joined David Moyes at the club last week, arriving on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United.

He is hoping to kickstart his career at the Stadium of Light after a frustrating two years under Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.

He made an immediate impact on his debut on Saturday, with an impressive performance in the eventual 2-1 defeat to Manchester City.

And Kaboul has backed the winger to give his new side the spark that they were lacking before his arrival.

“He’s a young player and someone who can give us the X Factor,” he told the Chronicle.

“He can take on two or three players and then score. These are the type of players who can score you goals from anywhere.”

It remains to be seen if Januzaj does prove to be a smart acquisition for Sunderland this season.

He will certainly be keen to prove a point after seeing his star wane in recent years at Manchester United after initially shining when he broke through into the first team.

Of course much is likely to rest on what kind of season that the Black Cats have, with another relegation battle not likely to help his chances.
