Blackburn Rovers' Ben Marshall in action
According to Sky Sports (live transfer thread, 17 August 2016 at 17:36), Fulham expect to make three or four more signings this summer, with Blackburn Rovers ace Ben Marshall seen as a key target.
The report claims that the club’s recruitment team are working hard to back boss Slavisa Jokanovic before the transfer deadline, despite the club having already brought in nine new faces.
The Whites have begun the season in impressive fashion, beating Newcastle United 1-0 on the opening day of the season before claiming four points from their ensuing back-to-back away games.
The sale of Ross McCormack to Aston Villa and Moussa Dembele to Celtic left the club short on attacking quality, yet thus far Fulham haven’t exactly missed the goalscoring pair.
Having said that, boss Jokanovic has gone on record telling reporters that more additions are needed if the club are to sustain a promotion push, and Sky Sports claim Marshall is a key target.
The 25-year-old was once on the books of Manchester United before having spells at Crewe, Stoke City and later Leicester City ahead of his 2013 switch to Ewood Park.
Despite suffering ankle ligament problems in his first season at Blackburn, Marshall went on to impress in the 2014-15 campaign where he netted seven goals in 47 appearances in all competitions.
Blackburn then struggled last season as the club changed managers in the middle of the campaign, and as a result Marshall managed just two Championship goals from 44 league appearances.
The former England Under-21 international arguably needs to leave the club to rediscover his top form, and with Fulham on the up a switch to Craven Cottage could be ideal for the winger.
