According to the Daily Star, Sunderland are considering a move for Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga.

The Black Cats are keen to strengthen before the end of the summer transfer window to try and ensure they are not battling against relegation once again.

A striker is top of their wishlist, with David Moyes determined to ease the goalscoring burden on Jermain Defoe.

Defoe scored 18 goals in all competitions last season, with 15 of those coming in the Premier League.

That was more than the rest of the strikers in the squad managed and is not an ideal situation by any means.

And it appears that Moyes has identified a potential target, with the Daily Star reporting Britt Assombalonga is on his wishlist.

According to the newspaper, the Scot travelled to Griffin Park on Tuesday to see Nottingham Forest take on Brentford with the intention of watching the striker, who started from the bench.

It remains to be seen if they make a move, with the report claiming that he is currently valued at £7 million.

They are not the only side interested in his services though, with Norwich City also thought to be considering a move.
