Aston Villa legend Ian Taylor has taken to Twitter to discuss the club's move to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak.
After landing the likes of Pierluigi Gollini, Tommy Elphick, James Chester, Aaron Tshibola and Ross McCormack, Villa moved to land Jedinak earlier today – and it may just be one of their more impressive signings.
Jedinak, who turned 32 earlier this month, has been the heartbeat of the Palace midfield ever since signing for the Eagles from Turkish side Genclerbirligi in the summer of 2011.
A former captain of the club before being replaced by Scott Dann earlier this summer, Jedinak racked up more than 175 appearances for Palace and became a fan favourite at Selhurst Park thanks to his endeavour and determination in the middle of the park.
Australia's Mile Jedinak
Securing a wily, proven veteran in the middle of the park is a huge coup for manager Roberto Di Matteo, and fans are understandably excited by the deal – in fact, so are former Villa players too.
After Villa announced the deal earlier today, former midfielder Ian Taylor took to Twitter to give his thoughts on Villa's latest transfer.
Taylor suggested that Jedinak is a 'great signing' for Villa, as he will bring leadership, presence and another captain figure to the Villa side, and is pleased that Di Matteo moved to bring in such an experienced player.
The Australian international started for Palace in their Premier League opener against West Brom last weekend, and is therefore fully fit and could feature in Villa's next fixture this weekend, away at another of Taylor's former club's, Derby County.
