Aston Villa missed out on a rare chance to record two successive victories as they dropped points at home to Huddersfield Town last night.

The Terriers clinched a share of the points with a late strike, capitalising on shambolic Aston Villa defending.

Goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini was at the heart of it, on only his fourth competitive appearance for the club.

Despite the mix up, club owner Tony Xia is giving his full backing to the Italian, and is confident he will be a big success in his career for the Villans.

Gollini is early into his career at Villa and will not want this to become a common occurrence, but he will be glad to hear of the backing from the club's owner.

The Italian is still adjusting to the pace and intensity of English football, and while Villa cannot afford to carry him, if he is getting his mistake out of the way early and emerges a better player for it, then last night's episode will quickly be forgotten.
