Aston Villa reportedly keen on Tottenham defender.
Tottenham's Kieran Trippier
Trippier signed for Spurs last summer and despite showing promise when he has played, he is stuck behind England international Kyle Walker in the pecking order.
Tottenham's Kieran Trippier during training
Trippier player a key part in Burnley's promotion campaign three seasons ago, and was a stand out performer in the Championship.
An England youth international and former Manchester City youngster, Trippier needs to play regularly, but it is doubtful a drop down a division is in his plans.
The Evening Standard reported last month he is happy at Spurs and keen to prove himself, and with Champions League football on offer if he can work his way into the team, it makes sense to stick around rather than play in the Championship.
Tottenham's Kieran Trippier in action
Trippier would be an excellent signing for Villa, but for Spurs it would not make much sense. He was bought as a back-up for Walker, and they would be relying on unproven DeAndre Yedlin if they loaned Trippier out.
Yedlin's presence could be an argument for moving Trippier on if Spurs' staff rate him more highly, but so far there has been no indication of this.
Here is a look at how Aston Villa fans reacted to the reports...
#Avfc have enquired for keiran Trippier for a loan... that would be a quality signing!— Alfie Gates (@alfie_villa) August 17, 2016
I'd be pretty happy if the rumours of Kieran Trippier on loan are true. Would be a big upgrade on Hutton/Bacuna/Richards in that position...— Ian DW (@sportdw) August 17, 2016
If Trippier is available we need to go all out.— dave (@doc3d) August 17, 2016
Kieran Trippier on loan .... Yes please..!— Andy Townsend (@AndyTownsend_AV) August 17, 2016
Don't like loans per se but if it could be a loan to buy that'd be a great deal.
