Arsenal and Tottenham have been keeping tabs on Blackpool youngster Bright Osayi-Samuel, according to the Express.

The North London clubs have reportedly been keeping a close eye on how the Nigerian-born youngster is developing at Bloomfield Road, and Express Sport understands that scouts from Arsenal and Spurs were both present for Blackpool's 1-1 draw with Barnet last night.

With the Tangerines now participating in England's fourth tier, they would be powerless to prevent Osayi-Samuel from leaving, especially if a club the size of the Gunners or Tottenham came calling.

While Tottenham have built an impressive English core with the likes of Harry Kane and Eric Dier amongst their ranks, Arsenal have had to endure heavy criticism for failing to bring British youngsters through to the first-team during Arsene Wenger's reign.

Although the Gunners have the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs and Jack Wilshere, none of their English youngsters have proved themselves to be either good enough or reliable enough to be considered regular first-team members.

There is almost a sense that some of the home-grown players at Arsenal are being kept their purely to fulfil their British player quota, rather than for the positive effect they could have on the side.

Maybe, with a move for the Blackpool youngster, Wenger is making a concerted effort to improve the home-grown quality within his squad.

It makes a nice change to see two of the best sides in the Premier League scouting a player who plies his trade in League Two, and if a move to either club comes to fruition, Osayi-Samuel would have the perfect platform available to him from which he could build a successful career within the game.
