Report: Wolves reach agreement with Brazilian defender Luisao


Wolves are set to sign Luisao from Benfica.


Wolves are close to securing a deal to sign Benfica defender Luisao, report Portuguese newspaper Journal de Noticas.

Luisao, 35, has 44 caps for Brazil and has played at two World Cups for his country.

The veteran held a meeting with Wolves representatives in London on Monday, it is reported, with Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira in attendance.


Luisao has been at Benfica since 2003 and has made more than 470 appearances for the club, winning five league titles along the way.

While in the twilight of his career, the centre-back's physical presence and leadership qualities could make him a real asset in the Championship.


Portuguese newspaper Record also report the news, that Luisao is set to sign with Wolves. His contract at Benfica has one more year left to run.

There is currently no update on teammate Anderson Talisca's proposed transfer to Wolves.
