Goldman Sachs Blink

Andre Laport Ribeiro, head of Latin American equities for Goldman Sachs and the firm’s last remaining partner in Brazil, has left after equity deals in the region tumbled 67%.

Bloomberg News reports that Laport, who had been at Goldman Sachs since 2008, will be replaced by Reginaldo Lima and Juliano Arruda, both based in Sao Paulo, according to Michael DuVally, a spokesman for the company. DuVally said Laport retired, and declined to comment further.

In the meantime, Bloomberg News also reports that SunTrust Banks hired Sunil Moser to lead merger advice and financing for U.S. power companies.

Moser was most recently a power and utilities banker at Credit Suisse in New York, according to a statement from SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, the firm’s investment-banking arm. He will work in Atlanta, where the company is based, and report to Jim Warren, managing director of energy investment banking.
