Fulham's Matt Smith scores
Fulham forward Matt Smith has told the club’s official website that he and his teammates are confident of winning against Leeds United on Tuesday evening.
The Cottagers will take on Leeds away from home at Elland Road in the Championship this evening.
The London club will head into the match on the back of a 2-1 victory over Preston North End away from home at Deepdale in the league.
Fulham's Matt Smith celebrates
Fulham kicked off their 2016-17 Championship campaign with a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at Craven Cottage in London.
Smith is confident that the Cottagers can get the better of his former club Leeds at Elland Road on Tuesday evening.
The 27-year-old forward, who played for the West Yorkshire outfit during the 2013-14 season, has also made an observation about the Leeds fans.
The Englishman has claimed that Elland Road can be a hostile place to play at, and has also stated that the Leeds players will be looking to step up their game in front of their own supporters.
“We are confident we can win the game, but obviously they have got a point to prove as well,” Smith told Fulham’s official website.
“They will want to put a good showing for their fans. I know it’s a hostile environment to play, Elland Road, as much as it is a very special place to play football.
“Their fans will be right on them if they are not performing, so I think it’s our job to make that happen.”
Leeds have lost both of their Championship matches so far and will head into the match against Fulham on the back of a 2-1 home defeat to Birmingham City.
