The young defender is one of three new signings at the club this summer after arriving from Bolton Wanderers.
He was a star in their side last season, being named player of the year despite their relegation from the Championship.
Arsenal's Rob Holding in action with Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho
An injury crisis at the Emirates has seen him thrown straight into the first team, with him playing in the opening game of the season against Liverpool on Sunday.
It was very much a baptism of fire for the young defender, but Wilshere was impressed by the performance that he put in.
"I think if you look on the pitch, he doesn't look out of his comfort zone," he told the official Arsenal website.
"He is a natural, he is confident on the ball and he wants to play and I think that is the Arsenal way. He is a great addition to the squad and one for the future as well.”
Arsenal's Rob Holding dejected after the match
It will now be interesting to see if Holding’s start to life at Arsenal is enough to convince Wenger to continue using him this season.
There is no denying that things could have gone better against Liverpool, but his general performance was impressive despite his side conceding four goals on the day.
His chances of more first team football will rest on the transfer window and whether Arsene Wenger can find the central defender his side desperately needs.
