As the new Premier League campaign got underway this weekend, we saw a host of players making their debuts for their new club.

16 out of 20 teams gave debuts to at least one new signing, and while some had a first game to forget, others shone when the spotlight was on and immediately began to justify the fee that was paid for them.

We look at five new signings who shone on the opening weekend of the Premier League.

Sadio Mane

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp celebrates with Sadio Mane after the match

Sadio Mane made his first Liverpool appearance this weekend since joining from Southampton, and was a constant threat against Arsenal.

The Senegalese forward's wonder-goal put Jurgen Klopp's side 4-1 up at the Emirates, and showed exactly why he cost Liverpool more than £30 million.

Mane's pace and directness adds a new dimension to Liverpool, and he could be the one-to-watch this season.

Nathan Redmond

Mane's replacement at Southampton is Nathan Redmond, who also celebrated his debut with a goal.

Still very raw at 22 years old, the winger lost the ball on multiple occasions but was a constant goal-threat for the Saints.

Redmond has arguably failed to live up to his potential so far, but at Southampton, a club renowned for its ability to nurture young talent, the youngster has the perfect chance to fulfil that potential.

Eric Bailly

Another 22-year-old, Manchester United's Eric Bailly gave a Man of the Match performance in his side's 3-1 victory over Bournemouth.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic also making his debut, the Ivorian centre back was able to go under the radar and give a stellar performance while all eyes were on the Swede.

The former Villarreal defender looked to have a solid partnership with Daley Blind, which could cause problems for Chris Smalling when he returns.

Idrissa Gueye

Relegated last year with Aston Villa, Idrissa Gueye was one of few players who could hold his head high at the end of a disastrous season.

Everton obviously agreed, and matched the midfielder's release clause to bring him to Goodison Park.

The 26-year-old looked right at home at the heart of Ronald Koeman's midfield, providing the energy needed for Everton's high intensity game, which has been introduced by their new manager.

N'Golo Kante

Kante's move to Leicester last year was the signing of the season, and although the price has now been inflated, he could be the signing of the season for the second year running.

Despite picking up an early booking, the French midfielder gave a performance similar to the ones seen by Leicester last year as they won the Premier League.

Kante is exactly what Chelsea have been missing. His ability to reclaim and recycle possession will give balance to Antonio Conte's team, who picked up a huge opening day win against West Ham.
