After their 2-1 away victory over Newcastle United at the weekend the Terriers went into the game full of confidence as they looked to grab another big scalp.

But a first Aston Villa goal for £12m Ross McCormack gave the hosts the lead as he headed in Jack Grealish cross after 25-minutes.

And the score remained 1-0 going in at the break as Huddersfield looked to turn things around in the second half.

Nahki Wells came close for the visitors only to be denied by the post as Villa looked to be heading for another victory.

But four minutes from time, Huddersfield substitute Michael Hefele grabbed a bizarre equaliser just seconds after coming on.

Villa goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini's attempted clearance hit the charging Hefele and looped into an empty net to make it 1-1.
