Andy Couzens has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his backing to Leeds United striker Chris Wood.

Wood’s performances so far this season have been less than impressive.

The New Zealand international striker has failed to score in two appearances in the Championship for Leeds so far this campaign. The 24-year-old has created two chances, but he has not had a single shot.

Some Leeds fans are not happy with Wood’s displays, but Couzens remains positive about the former West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City striker.

The former Leeds midfielder has suggested on Twitter that the club should have faith in Wood or run the risk of having another Tom Lees situation.

Lees started his professional football career at Leeds and did quite well, but the Whites sold him to Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2014.

The 25-year-old central defender has now established himself as one of the best players for Wednesday and was a key figure in the Owls’ successful 2015-16 campaign.

According to a report in The Daily Mail last month, Wednesday rejected a £5 million bid for Lees, with Burnley, Sunderland, Derby and Fulham all credited with interest in the former England Under-21 international.

Couzens has also suggested on Twitter how Leeds should line up for the Championship game against Fulham at Elland Road this evening.
