Carlton Palmer has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to the current situation of Sheffield Wednesday attacker Fernando Forestieri.

Forestieri has recently been the subject of speculation and was linked with a move away from Wednesday.

According to a recent report in The Derby Telegraph, Championship rivals Derby County and Newcastle United are interested in signing the Italian from the Owls in the summer transfer window

The attacker did not feature in the Owls’ Championship game against Norwich City away from home at Carrow Road at the weekend.

The Derby Telegraph claimed that Forestieri did not travel with the Wednesday squad to Norwich for the match on Saturday evening.

The Star reported on Monday that the 26-year-old, who can play as a striker or as an attacking midfielder, had refused to play against Norwich.

Forestieri issued a public apology on Twitter on Monday, to which former Wednesday midfielder Palmer and ex-England international cricketer Michael Vaughan, who is an Owls fan, have responded.

Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal has told BBC Radio Sheffield that Forestieri has been fined for his action (click here to read more).

The Championship club’s chairman Dejphon Chansiri has stated on Wednesday’s official website that the situation with the attacker has been resolved.
