Antonio Conte picked up his first Premier League win as Chelsea manager after his side beat West Ham United 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
The London derby was the Italian's first competitive taste of English football and he will hope it is the first of many wins as Blues manager.
It was a game that Chelsea controlled for long periods and despite going in goalless at half-time, the hosts soon took the lead after the restart as Hammers winger Michail Antonio tripped Cesar Azpilicueta inside the box resulting in a penalty that was cleanly dispatched by Eden Hazard.
At 1-0, Chelsea were expected to push on but the introduction of West Ham talisman Dimitri Payet on 68 minutes helped the visitors get a foothold in the game.
And less than 10 minutes after Payet's introduction, West Ham were level as Chelsea failed to deal with the Frenchman's corner before defender James Collins neatly struck the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-1.
With time running out it looked as though a draw was on the cards but in the final minute of normal time, Chelsea forward Diego Costa stepped up and drilled the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the goal from 25-yards to snatch three points for the home side.
