According to talkSPORT, Preston North End striker Joe Garner has agreed to join Rangers in a £1.8m switch, and will undergo a medical with the club on Tuesday.

Rangers have been searching for a centre forward all summer, and whilst Joe Dodoo has arrived from Leicester City, Martyn Waghorn's recent hamstring only exacerbated Mark Warburton's need for another striker.

Speculation over the weekend has surrounded a move from Rangers for Preston North End hitman Joe Garner - and Warburton appears to have got his man.

TalkSPORT report that Rangers have agreed a deal worth £1.8m for Garner, and the player will travel up to Glasgow on Tuesday to undergo a medical with the Ibrox side.

Garner, 28, may have only scored six Championship goals for Preston last season and has yet to find the net this term, but he's written himself in North End folklore since signing from Watford in 2013.

A boyhood Preston fan, Garner hit 51 goals in two seasons for North End, including 25 league goals during the 2014/15 season as he spearheaded North End's promotion from League One.

Last season was much tougher for Garner, but fans remain disappointed that a cult hero is leaving the club - particularly given that none of the club's other strikers were particularly prolific last season.

It's stated that Garner will now pen a three-year contract with Rangers, with the player keen to make the move to Scotland after more than three years at Deepdale.
