Norwich City will pay £2.8 million for talented Sochaux defender Jerome Onguene, according to The Mail.

The Canaries have been linked with the 18-year-old lately and respected Ligue 1 journalist Andrew Gibney claimed on Twitter that a move was imminent.

The Frenchman was reportedly in attendance to watch Norwich's 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Carrow Road on Saturday.

And The Mail have now reported that Alex Neil will get his man for less than £3 million.

The report goes on to claim that the likes of West Ham United, Sunderland and Aston Villa have previously been interested in the teenager, but it seems Norwich will nab him.

Alex Pritchard of England during training

Norwich have enjoyed quite a good summer on the transfer front after signing four players - Sergi Canos, Michael McGovern, Paul Jones and Alex Pritchard - so far.

Pritchard set the Canaries back some £8 million but if he helps Neil's side win promotion back to the Premier League then he is worth every penny.

And they have enjoyed a very decent start in that regard; thumping Blackburn Rovers 4-1 at Ewood Park on the first day of the Championship season, before being held by the Owls this past weekend.
