Former Aston Villa defender Philippe Senderos
Rangers manager Mark Warburton has told the club's official website that central defender Philippe Senderos has joined the club on trial.
Whilst Rangers have snapped up veteran defender Clint Hill this summer, Warburton remains in need of another experienced centre back to help Rob Kiernan and Danny Wilson in the heart of the Gers back line.

Earlier this month, The Times reported that Rangers had offered a one-year contract to free agent defender Philippe Senderos, but manager Warburton then told the Glasgow Evening Times that any talk of a deal for the centre back was incorrect.
Now though, there appears to have been a major U-turn as Warburton has now told the club's official website that Senderos has joined Rangers on trial for the week, in the hope of winning a contract with the club - and called Senderos 'very talented'.

"He is training for a week with us, we spoke to Philippe and to his agent and obviously he is a very talented player with a very impressive CV," said Warburton.
"It is a case of he has not been training with a team so he is in for a week with us and nothing more than that. He has an impressive CV both domestically and internationally, he is 31 and came in this morning and trained. He looks very good technically from his background and physically he looks in good shape so we will have him in for a week and then see what that leads to," he added.
Senderos, 31, is best remembered for having spent more than seven years of his career with Arsenal, though he did have loan spells with AC Milan and Everton during that time.
The Swiss international, who represented his country at three World Cups and a European Championships, moved on to Fulham in 2010 and has since had stints with Valencia, Aston Villa and Grasshopper Zurich.
A free agent having seen his Grasshopper contract expire this summer, Senderos is looking to get back into the game – and Warburton has offered him the chance to impress with Rangers.
It remains to be seen whther Senderos can win a contract, but with Rangers still needing an experienced defender, Senderos should have every opportunity to complete a permanent move to Ibrox.
