Celtic winger James Forrest has told the club’s official website that everyone at the club wants to bring Champions League football back to Celtic Park.

The Scottish champions have been absent from the competition for the last two years after failing to qualify under Ronny Deila.

They face a good chance of making the group stages this season though, with them set to take on Hapoel Be’er Sheva in a play off round.

The game against the Israeli side is not likely to be an easy one by any stretch of the imagination, but the Hoops should be favourites for the tie regardless.

And Forrest says that everyone is determined to ensure they are playing at Europe’s top table this season.

“We’ve not been in it the last couple of year but we’ve got the chance with the two games coming up to rectify that,” he told the club’s official website.

“That’s what everybody here at the club want – to be back in the Champions League.”

It remains to be seen if Celtic can secure their progression to the group stages by overcoming Hapoel Be’er Sheva in their qualifying clash.

Brendan Rodgers side have already suffered a shock in the competition this season with the loss to Lincoln Red Imps so will know they cannot take this game for granted by any means.

They have improved over pre-season though and enjoyed a strong start to the season, so will be hoping to put in another strong display to ensure their progression.
