Arsenal's need for a defender may be more pressing, but there is no denying they are short up front, and have lacked a top class finisher for several seasons.

The name most consistently linked over the past few weeks is Alexandre Lacazette, with the striker admitting to SkySports there are some offers he cannot refuse.

Lyon are though a difficult club to negotiate with and do not want to let the striker go for anything less than a high price, in excess of £40 million.

He scored a hat-trick to fire Lyon to a 3-0 away win over Nancy at the weekend, which will only result in their valuation of him increasing.

This is one reason Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger may regret not splashing out already, as the French side can take advantage of their desperation in transfer negotiations.
