86% Pass Accuracy, 5 Dribbles: Did Tottenham ace Eriksen live up to wage demands?

Everton Goodison Aerial

Tottenham's Christian Eriksen is under the spotlight.

When the fixture list was drawn up it looked like Tottenham would be in for a tough start away to Everton, and so it proved on opening day as they had to fight back for a 1-1 draw.

Danish ace Christian Eriksen was a prominent figure throughout, and a player under the spotlight after reports in The Sun which claimed he was demanding wages of £150,000 per week.

Shining a spotlight on Eriksen's display at Goodison Park, the attacking midfielder should be pleased with his opening effort, as he sought to get Spurs back into the game, and then try and find a winner.

Eriksen like many players on show is working his way back to full match sharpness, and it could be argued that his two chances created was a little below par.

Yet the playmaker was effctive in his passing, completing 87 per cent of his passes, and winning four dribbles - more than he did in any match for Spurs over the course of 2015/16.

That in itself is reason to be positive, but this was not one of Eriksen's big days, with no goals or assists to his name.

Eriksen's performance was 'fine', but if he signs a contract to become the club's highest earner, expectations will ascend in the process.

He will need to become a matchwinner week in and week out, and criticism will come if he is not. Eriksen may be deserving of a bank busting pay rise, but he will need to prepare for the extra scrutiny which comes with it, by raising his game to become more effective and consistent, and might need to convince Tottenham of that before they shell out.
