0 Tackles Won: Better required from Leeds United signing Kyle Bartley

Kyle Bartley is adjusting to life at Leeds United.

Kyle Bartley has had a mixed time at Leeds United since signing on loan, with the team suffering two straight Championship defeats.

The defender is on loan from Premier League side Swansea City, and is still searching for an elusive clean sheet since his arrival.

His start has not been helped by playing alongside captain Sol Bamba, whose form has him a shadow of the player who signed from Palermo in 2015.

Bartley made some positive contributions against Birmingham City at the weekend, making four clearances – more than the rest of the defence did combined (2).

But a sharp negative to his display was the fact he failed to win a single tackle – for the second game in a row.

Leeds’ defence has not played well over the first two games, and they need a forceful defender to take hold of games. With no tackles won in 180 minutes of football, Bartley is yet to prove he is the answer.

Head coach Garry Monk has alternatives, with Luke Ayling able to play at centre-back, and Liam Cooper a candidate to come in. The Whites could also look to add another defender before the transfer window closes.

Bartley is a talented defender but needs to make his mark on this Leeds team, and will hope to be able to do so, starting with winning a tackle, in the upcoming match at home to Fulham this week.
