Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has questioned whether Riyad Mahrez would be a regular starter at the Emirates, speaking to Sky Sports.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with the Leicester City star this summer, with Le Buteur in France reporting two weeks they had agreed personal terms with the Algerian winger.

A move has not materialised though as the Premier League champions have insisted they will not be letting last season’s PFA Player of the Year depart.

Some have questioned whether the move would be a wise one from Arsene Wenger’s side given the abundance of attacking midfielders they currently have in their squad.

And Henry has also poured doubt on it, saying he doubts if Mahrez would start week in week out at the Emirates.

“I wouldn’t mind seeing him at Arsenal, but I think it will be way better if he stays at Leicester City,” he told Sky Sports.

“If he goes to Arsenal, is he going to play every single weekend? I don’t know about that. It’s vital for [Leicester] to keep him.”

It now remains to be seen if Mahrez does remain with Leicester City this summer.

It would be surprising to see him leave at this stage of the transfer window, especially to Arsenal, who seem reluctant to spend big on signings again.

Of course, the transfer window often springs surprises and perhaps Mahrez could be the subject of a late bid as clubs look to strengthen late on.
