According to The Sun, Everton are expected to beat West Ham United to the signing of Rachid Ghezzal.
The Toffees have experienced a testing summer what with the arrival of boss Koeman from Southampton and the drawn-out transfer saga which saw John Stones join Manchester City.
But following the addition of Steve Walsh as the club’s new director of football, Everton have become active in the transfer market with Wales skipper Ashley Williams recently arriving from Swansea City.
Koeman is keen to bolster his defensive ranks following the departure of Stones, but he is also (reportedly) interested in beefing up his attack and a new wide player or two are definitely on the agenda.
Ghezzal, an Algeria international, scored eight goals in 29 league games last term, but his future at Lyon has been placed in doubt after the player was dropped to the club’s reserve team.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently told L’Equipe, as reported by ESPN, that West Ham have made a bid for Ghezzal (click here to read more), but the report in The Sun claims that Everton will topple that this coming week.
