Preston North End striker Joe Garner is being heavily linked with a move to Rangers - and fans have been heaving their say over the weekend.

Garner, 28, has become a fan favourite at Deepdale for a number of reasons, but as a boyhood North End fan, he was always going to be popular with supporters, even though he failed to score in his first 15 games for the club after a 2013 move from Watford.

With 18 league goals during the 2013/14 season, Garner fired Preston to the League One play-offs before losing out to Rotherham, and he followed that up with 25 goals in the 2014/15 campaign as he spearheaded the Lilywhites' return to the Championship.

However, doubts over Garner's ability to play in the Championship have been hanging over him for years now, and with just six goals last season, he again failed to impress in the second tier after prior spells with Nottingham Forest and Watford.

Now, speculation is linking Garner with a move away from Deepdale, as The Scottish Sun report that Rangers - who have been in the market for a centre forward all summer - are closing in on a deal for the the striker.

Garner played 90 minutes as Preston lost 2-1 to Fulham on Saturday, and supporters have been having their say on Garner's potential departure throughout the weekend.

Fans have taken to Twitter, with many stating that they think selling Garner would be a huge mistake as, despite his poor goal return over the last 12 months, he offers so much more than that due to his hard work and love for the club.

Others think that Garner should take the opportunity to move to a huge club in Rangers, and small sections of the Deepdale fanbase believe that Preston should take the money and reinvest in other areas of the squad, given that manager Simon Grayson is working with one of the lowest budgets in the Championship.
