Former United and West Ham defender Ferdinand believes that keeping the 26-year-old striker is Klopp’s biggest concern.
The former England international centre-back, though, has highlighted an advantage the Liverpool manager has.
Ferdinand has pointed out that Klopp has some experience of the Premier League, unlike some of the new managers such as Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp
“Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has a little bit of an advantage over the new managers coming into the Premier League because he has been here for the best part of a season, but the biggest concern for him will be keeping Daniel Sturridge fit,” Ferdinand told The Irish Independent.
“It has been a concern for Liverpool over the last couple of seasons and they have to hope his injury problems stay away.”
Liverpool will kick off their 2016-17 Premier League campaign with a match against Arsenal away from home at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Reds will head into the match against the Gunners with confidence and will fancy their chances of picking up all three points from the encounter.
