According to the Daily Mail, Saido Berahino has informed West Bromwich Albion of his desire to remain at the club this summer and see out the remainder of his contract which expires in 12 months' time.

The report claims both Crystal Palace and Stoke City are keen on his services, yet in a bid to avoid a repeat of his failed move to Tottenham Hotspur last summer, he is now prepared to see out his current deal.

Berahino burst on to the scene in the 2014-15 season as he topped the club’s scoring charts, prompting strong interest from Premier League rivals Spurs and allegedly a number of failed bids.

The England international couldn’t replicate his stunning form last season, scoring just four times over the course of the campaign, although that does not appear to have stopped clubs wishing to sign him.

Both Stoke and Palace have been heavily linked with a move for Berahino this summer, yet West Brom’s hefty asking price has seemingly put a halt to any potential deal, leaving the forward in limbo.

Now, according to the Daily Mail, Berahino has opted to remain with the Baggies for the forthcoming season and earn a lucrative free-transfer move when his contract runs out next year.

While West Brom will be happy to have the youngster on board for the campaign, ultimately they are now in danger of missing out on a huge selling fee which could have funded a potential replacement.

The 23-year-old formally rejected a contract offer from the West Midlands club last month, and now it’s a question of whether he will see out his plan and leave the Hawthorns on a free in 12 months' time.
