Former Premier League player Peter Ramage has said via Twitter that he would love to see Crystal Palace’s Mile Jedinak sign for Newcastle United after reports emerged he could be leaving Selhurst Park.
Jedinak, an Australia international, joined Palace in 2011 and has since gone on to make over 150 league appearances for the South London club.
However, last season he spent a number of months on the peripherals of the first-team and with Palace strengthening further this summer, question marks have been raised over his future.
Let's get serious for a minute. Rumours suggest tomorrow could be the last time we see Bolasie and Jedinak in #cpfc colours...— Five Year Dann (@FYPFanzine) August 12, 2016
Agree! The perfect role model/teacher for Hayden! No nonsense character, someone players respect and don't p*** off! https://t.co/mGG9TfdMw9— Peter Ramage (@peterramage83) August 12, 2016
Newcastle haven’t made the best of starts to life in the Championship following their relegation last term, losing 1-0 on the opening day to Fulham at Craven Cottage.
While Rafa Benitez’s men possess plenty of quality, what they perhaps lack is grit and determination through the middle - key characteristics needed to get out of the second tier.
Crystal Palace's Mile Jedinak celebrates after the match
Jedinak, 32, is a natural-born leader and he commands the respect of the dressing room while also having the quality to still play at the top level on a consistent basis.
Ramage believes he would be a great addition for Newcastle, and it’s hard to disagree after watching them against Fulham and seeing midfielder Isaac Hayden struggle without a senior figure by his side.
