Burnley fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the impending signing of Belgium international midfielder Steven Defour from Anderlecht - with Sky Sports claiming the player was reportedly available for around £6 million.

Anderlecht confirmed on Twitter on Friday that the player is set to link up with Sean Dyche's side, wishing the player well on his departure.

The Clarets have been looking to add an experienced and influential central midfielder this summer after controversial former England  man Joey Barton chose to sign for Rangers rather than extend his stay at Turf Moor.

And Burnley fans should be delighted with the player they've ended up recruiting, with Defour long recognised as one of the best midfielders in Belgium - currently the second highest ranked nation in the world.

The 28-year-old didn't make the Red Devils squad for the European Championships this summer, but has 44 caps to his name and was involved in the 2014 World Cup.

Defour has also spent time in the Champions League with Porto, returning to his home country in 2014 to join up with Brussels giants Anderlecht.

With his technical qualities and combative nature, Defour should join his compatriots in excelling in the Premier League.

Below are a series of tweets from Burnley fans as his signing moves closer:
