According to the Daily Mail, Middlesbrough have made an enquiry for Manchester United’s Andreas Pereira.
The report suggests that the 20-year-old midfielder will not be in United boss Jose Mourinho’s plans this coming season though he said to want to remain at Old Trafford.
Boro have made numerous signing this summer as they look to establish themselves in the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Boss Aitor Karanka has already strengthened his midfield with the addition of Marten de Roon, yet it appears the Spaniard still wants to add more and is seeking a loan deal for Pereira.
The Belgium-born youngster joined United from PSV Eindhoven back in 2011 as a youngster, though his progress has been haltered somewhat due to a lack of first-team opportunities.
He has made just four Premier League appearances in a United shirt, and Mourinho is said to be keen for him to leave Old Trafford this season in order to gain regular first-team experience elsewhere.
Youngsters Paddy McNair and Donald Love have already left United to join Sunderland on permanent deals this summer, though in Pereira’s case he does seem to have a long-term future at Od Trafford.
Karanka knows Mourinho well from their time at Real Madrid together and a loan deal for Pereira makes plenty of sense and could have benefits for all parties involved.
