Jurgen Klopp has been preparing for his first full season in charge at Anfield, which gets underway at Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.
The German manager will be hoping to improve Liverpool’s record in their biggest game of the year against Manchester United. The Old Trafford club have won four of the last six meetings between the two great rivals.
United legend Ryan Giggs won’t be involved in one of these matches for the first time since 1990. And revealed his take on Liverpool ahead of the new campaign before the Community Shield at Wembley last weekend, in an interview with YouTuber ‘Calfreezy’.
“As a United fan - I’m slightly worried about Liverpool as I think they’ve bought pretty decent and they’ve got no european football,” Giggs said in the YouTube video.
“They’ve got a week to prepare for games, so I’m a little bit worried about Liverpool.”
Then asked if he thinks they look a much better side than the last couple of seasons, Giggs commented on their new signings.
"What they will bring is more goals. Wijnaldum [is a] very good header of the ball, very good in the air. Mane [is] quick, also good defensively — will do a job both up front and on the right.”
Challenging for the Premier League may prove too tough a task for Klopp’s side with both Manchester clubs spending their riches and strengthening well.
Though if Giggs, who loved to better the Merseyside club, is uneasy over their prospect, they must be doing something right.
