Reports in France are suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur are entering the race to sign Portugal midfielder Adrien Silva.

L’Equipe are suggesting that Spurs are ready to make a €15 million (£13 million) move for the Euro 2016 winner in the next weeks – after Mauricio Pochettino put him at the top of his wanted list.

However, the report also mentions the interest of Everton and AC Milan and the fact Spurs will need to sell to buy.

Spurs have plenty of midfield options but there have been rumours throughout the summer regarding the futures of players such as Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb.

It could be argued that Silva, 27, would be an upgrade on the pair as Spurs build a side to compete on both a domestic and European front at White Hart Lane.

Silva featured in four games for Portugal as they won the European Championships this summer. He also played a major role, scoring eight goals, as Sporting came second in the Portuguese league in 2015-16.

Tottenham have already brought in Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen this summer and are working hard to tie down a deal for Georges-Kevin N’Koudou of Marseille.
