According to Tuttomercatoweb, Sunderland are readying an £8.6 million offer for Torino’s Davide Zappacosta.

The Italian publication claim that Torino are willing to sell the full-back as boss Sinisa Mihajlovic looks to replace him with fellow defender Lorenzo De Silvestri, a player he worked with at Sampdoria.

Sunderland have been in the market for a new full-back this summer after last season’s loan star DeAndre Yedlin returned to parent club Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the campaign.

A number of players have been linked with a move to the Black Cats, with former Newcastle United man Davide Santon tipped to join before pulling out due to a breakdown in negotiations (Sky Sports).

Newly-appointed boss David Moyes has brought in Paddy McNair and Donald Love, yet question marks remain as to whether the former United are ready to become regulars at the Stadium of Light.

Zappacosta is no doubt the more established and experienced player, and he impressed last team for Torino as he made 25 Serie A appearances and was drafted in to Italy’s provisional Euro 2016 squad.

A recent report in Gazza Mercato first highlighted Sunderland’s interest in the player, and the latest reports from Tutto now suggest a bid is being prepared with Torino already considering his exit.

The 24-year-old has a bright future ahead of him, and the lure of Premier League football could see him become a Sunderland player before the end of the current transfer window.
