Everton have been relatively very quiet in the transfer market this summer but it is expected that the Toffees will be looking to ramp up their efforts in the coming weeks, and a host of players have been linked with a move to Goodison Park over the past few days.
Having brought in a quality defender in Ashley Williams recently, manager Ronald Koeman could be looking to sign a new striker soon as the future of Romelu Lukaku remains in doubt and now according to reports emerging out of Portugal, the Toffees have placed a bid for Slimani.
Slimani scored a stunning 31 goals for Sporting Lisbon last season and the striker has understandably attracted interest from numerous clubs this summer, with Premier League duo Swansea City (Sky Sports) and West Bromwich Albion (Daily Mail) both reportedly keen.
Recent reports from A Bola which emerged on Thursday claims that Everton have joined in the race to sign Slimani and have already placed a bid for the Algerian international.
However the report implies that the Merseysiders' offer is much lower than Sporting’s £25.8 million asking price for Slimani and that the Premier League side will face disappointment from their approach.
