Newcastle United are in the hunt for Anderlecht striker Idrissa Syllaaccording to The Telegraph.

The report states that Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez wants another striking recruit after the club’s poor season opener in the Championship.

The forward, who can also play out wide, is a Guinean international who has started this season with a bang by scoring two goals in as many games for the Belgian side.

Last season he managed just seven goals in 34 appearances, but appears to be in better shape at the start of the 2016-17 campaign.

That form has apparently prompted Anderlecht to make a decision on his future - he is not for sale.

According to a report from VoetbalKrankt Anderlecht are not looking to sell Sylla, despite signing Lukasz Teodorczyk from Dynamo Kiev. Instead they are likely to sell Stefano Okaka after a fallout with the club’s new manager Rene Weiler.

Sylla’s link to Newcastle was particularly exciting given his nickname. He has been dubbed 'Waddle' during his time in France, because of his playing style likeness to the former Newcastle playmaker Chris Waddle.

Sylla started his playing career with Le Mans in France, where Waddle is highly respected from his stint with Marseille.

But it seems the new Waddle will be hard to get hold of.
