David Moyes was delighted to announced Sunderland's capture of Manchester United starlet Adnan Januzaj on a season-long loan Friday, and he had some massively exciting words for supporters looking forward to seeing the Belgium international, via the club's website.

The new Sunderland loanee will join former teammates Paddy McNair and Donald Love in the Black Cats squad for this weekend's game against Manchester City, and Moyes was blunt when he said that Januzaj displayed talent comparable to England record scorer Wayne Rooney.

"Adnan will give us a different variation,” Moyes said on "He can play two or three different roles. I have to get him back to the level he played at two years ago.

"He will get every opportunity to do the business. I believe in him and actually thought that he was one of the finest young talents I'd seen, and that included Wayne Rooney.

"I'm hoping the Sunderland fans will see the real Adnan Januzaj."

The former Manchester United boss gave the 21-year-old his biggest season of senior football so far, despite it being a failed campaign for both the club and Moyes.

Januzaj was one of the successes for the Red Devils for the 2013-14 season, making his debut and going on to record 35 appearances and four goals that year - the first two of which came at the Stadium of Light in a 2-1 victory over the Black Cats.

But despite that campaign announcing the youngster as one of the most promising attacking midfielders in the world, Januzaj has struggled to build on that, and now 21, is in dire need of a season of regular football.

He will hope to get that at Sunderland, where he will once again be working under a manager who has shown plenty of confidence in his ability in the past.
