And it seems he has even managed to bag another one, but for rivals Manchester City in their pursuit of Ozil’s fellow countryman Leroy Sane.
Sane’s move to the Etihad was completed last week and the former Schalke youngster admitted to the Mirror that playing under Pep Guardiola played a huge part in his decision.
What he failed to mention was Ozil’s role, reported by German outlet Spox.
“Naturally, the Premier League was a topic we discussed several times," Ozil told Spox.
"I told Leroy that I regard it as the best league in the world and that young players can develop well there.
“That is why I was happy for him when the transfer materialised. He will improve a lot under Pep Guardiola.”
Sane is City’s fifth major signing — arguably the most exciting. Rated as one of Europe’s top emerging talents, Sane has made rapid progress since his professional debut in 2014.
Comfortable on either wing, as a No.10 or a false nine, if Sane can get close to replicating Ozil’s efforts, his move to the Premier League will prove a success.
