The Gunners have only added Granit Xhaka to their squad this summer.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has told BBC Sport the best he can hope for from his old side is a top-four challenge this season.

Last season was regarded as a disappointing one for the Gunners as they finished second behind Leicester City.

They were expected to be busy this summer to fix their issues but so far Granit Xhaka is the only major arrival at the club.

That has left fans worrying their side will be left behind this season, especially with Manchester United and Manchester City spending vast sums to try and bring the title back up north.

And it appears that Wright is one who is concerned, saying that the best he feels he can hope for is a top-four challenge.

“Arsenal could not manage a title challenge in a season where Leicester won the league and this time it is going to be harder,” he told BBC Sport.

“As things stand, with no significant signings since Granit Xhaka, no new striker and injuries to their top three centre-halves, the best I can hope for Arsenal is that they make the top four again.”

It now remains to be seen how Arsenal will fare should they not make any signings beyond another defender.

It is hard to see them competing at the top of the table with their current group, especially given the manner in which the two Manchester sides have overhauled their squads this summer.

Of course there is every chance that Arsene Wenger has a trick up his sleeve to ensure that isn’t the case. Arsenal fans will certainly be hoping that is the case.
