Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle believes that Spurs’ star striker Harry Kane can put his Euro 2016 disappointment behind him this season and be the Premier League’s top-scorer again in the 2016-17 season.

Hoddle, who played for and managed Spurs, wrote for Yahoo Sport his belief that Kane will not let his poor performances for England this summer out him off in action for Tottenham:

“It wouldn’t surprise me if he ends up as the Premier League’s top scorer once again.

“He hit a wall physically over the summer with England…But the disappointment Kane endured in the summer may well work to Tottenham’s favour in the coming months.”

Kane certainly did look burnt out for England this summer and it makes sense, considering he was the only striker for Spurs last term.

That is no longer the case, following the £18.5 million signing of Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar.

Hoddle believes that transfer is massive for Kane, who he feels could also play in the number 10 position this term:

“I think he will benefit from the arrival of Vincent Janssen in the Spurs squad.

“They were relying heavily on Kane to play nearly every game for 90 minutes last season and that is a tough ask for any striker, so Janssen can relieve some of his workload.

“I also feel Harry could play in a deeper role behind Janssen if Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino wanted to get both of his lead strikers into his team and I am looking or Kane to emerge as one of the stars of this Premier League season once again.

“I expect him to fire them towards another top four finish this season.”

Kane returned to action with a bang at Spurs, scoring twice in the pre-season demolition job of Inter Milan, giving fans at White Hart Lane plenty of belief that he will be back on form during his Premier League campaign.

Hoddle certainly believes so and Spurs fans will be hoping the club legend is spot on.
