West Ham United summer signing Andre Ayew has told the club’s official website that he hopes to score against Chelsea next week.

The Hammers will kick off their 2016-17 Premier League campaign with a match against London rivals Chelsea away from home at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening.

“I would love to get on the scoresheet straight away,” Ayew told West Ham’s official website. “I am going to have a good week of training behind me and hopefully we can go there and get a good result.

“It will be tough against Chelsea in front of their new manager and their home fans.

“We want to start the season really well, but we know it is going to be a difficult game. We are playing away from home but it is not impossible for us to get a good result.”

Ayew joined West Ham from Premier League rivals Swansea City on a three-year contract, with an additional two-year option, on Monday.

As announced on the Hammers’ official website, the London outfit had to pay the Swans a club-record transfer fee of £20.5 million.

The Ghana international is a very versatile footballer who can play as a striker, winger or attacking midfielder.

The former Marseille star enjoyed a good 2015-16 Premier League campaign for Swansea, having joined the Welsh outfit on a free transfer in the summer of 2015.

Ayew scored 12 goals and created 23 chances in 34 Premier League appearances for Swansea last season.

West Ham will be looking to finish in the top six of the Premier League during the 2016-17 campaign.
