In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Tottenham new boy Vincent Janssen discussed the possibility of partnering Harry Kane up front this season.

The 22-year-old Holland international also responded to comparisons between him and Dutch legend Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Janssen was asked whether he sees himself as a partner for Kane, or an alternative, and he told Sky Sports:

"I think it's nice for the manager now that he has more options, we will see of course, but nobody wants to sit on the bench, so we will see how it's going to work out. I think the most important thing is that we perform like a team."

Janssen was signed from AZ Alkmaar last month, for a fee believed to be in the region of £17 million after impressing with 27 goals in 34 Eredivisie outings last term.

The Spurs striker's playing style has drawn comparisons with former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, and he explained his thoughts on being compared with a player of such legendary status in his home country:

"I don't want to compare myself with him, but for sure he is one of the best strikers Holland have had. He's amazing, and if people want to make that comparison they can, but i'm not going to do it myself."

Despite a disappointing end to last season, Mauricio Pochettino's men must still take great confidence from what was, on the whole, a terrific campaign.

They will want to improve further still, however, and with Janssen amongst their ranks, they are certainly in a stronger position to do so.

Spurs begin their Premier League campaign tomorrow with a tricky trip to Goodison Park to take on Everton.
