West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has told Sky Sports that he's expecting an instant impact from the club's new signing Andre Ayew.

The Hammers had been pursuing attacking reinforcements throughout the summer, and whilst manager Bilic landed Gokhan Tore and Sofiane Feghouli, the Croatian made a big move earlier this week.

West Ham confirmed that winger Andre Ayew had signed for the club in a big-money move from Swansea City, offering a major boost to Bilic's attacking options.

Ayew, 26, hit 12 goals and two assists for Swansea last season having joined from Marseille on a free transfer last summer, and his impressive displays at the Liberty Stadium have led to his move to East London.

The Ghanaian international should be in West Ham's squad to take on Chelsea on Monday evening, and Hammers fans will be keen to see Ayew hit the ground running with an impressive debut performance.

Ahead of that game, West Ham manager Bilic has spoken to Sky Sports about Ayew, and was specifically asked what he expects from his new signing during his introduction to life at the London Stadium.

Bilic admitted that he's expecting an instant impact from Ayew given that he's already had one season in the Premier League, and noted that his experience of playing for a huge club like Marseille is a big advantage for Ayew.

Bilic did though suggest that some attacking players take a little longer to gel than defensive players, but believes there is a welcoming environment to help new signings settle at West Ham.

“Yes [I expect Ayew to make an instant impact]," said Bilic. "I mean a lot of players make it straight away, and some players need a little bit of time to adjust. His big advantage is that he played in a big, big club like Olympique Marseille, he’s an international and is captain of Ghana and is in his best stage. He’s already spent one year in the Premier League so it’s nothing new for him."

"Sometimes wingers, strikers or offensive midfielders need a bit of time, while centre-backs are centre backs and are just doing their job and don’t depend on the team that much. The players are good in that they really make new players feel at home after a few days, so I’m sure we can expect some good football from the newcomers straight away," he added.
