According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic are pursuing a deal to reunite manager Brendan Rodgers with Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Dorus De Vries.

The Bhoys beat Aberdeen 5-0 on Wednesday evening, with new signings Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair both getting on the scoresheet – and manager Rodgers appears to be keen on adding more new faces to his squad.

A particular area of concern for the new Celtic manager appears to be in goal, where Logan Bailly is out injured due to ankle ligament damage, leaving youngster Leo Fasan as the only cover for Craig Gordon.

The Scottish Sun report that Rodgers wants to sign a new goalkeeper, and he's turn to and old face to help strengthen the position this summer, which should be no surprise having reunited with his former Liverpool defender Kolo Toure and ex-Swansea winger Scott Sinclair.

It's stated that Rodgers wants to reunite with Nottingham Forest's veteran goalkeeper Dorus De Vries, having worked with the Dutchman at Swansea City.

The 35-year-old played 51 games during the 2010/11 season under Rodgers, before moving on to Wolverhampton Wanderers and eventually Nottingham Forest, where is now the club's first-choice goalkeeper.

De Vries may fancy a reunion with Rodgers and a return to Scotland having starred with Dunfermline, but giving up being first choice at Forest to be backup to Gordon may not be too appealing.

The problem Celtic may face is that De Vries picked up an injury in Forest's 4-3 win over Burton Albion last weekend, and was  substituted after just 19 minutes having taken a knock to his ankle.

De Vries may not be missing for too long, but his absence could make things difficult for Celtic and Rodgers as they pursue a deal for the goalkeeper before this month's transfer deadline.
