The BBC is reporting that Italian businessman Andrea Radrizzani is in talks to buy a major stake in Leeds United.

They report that the deal for him to take control of a vast stake at the club is close, but that it might not mean the end of Massimo Cellino’s involvement with the Yorkshire club.

So far the news is sketchy over the deal but Leeds certainly appears to be on the verge of something substantial behind the scenes.

Leeds fans have been hoping to see Cellino’s ownership of the club end for some time now.

The mercurial Italian has been criticised for his running of the club and the struggles that have come along with it.

He has sacked six managers during his time at Elland Road and also been embroiled in legal battles both in the UK and back in Italy. He has been banned by the Football League on two occasions and made several unpopular player signatures during his time at the club.

Leeds fans will remain cautious however. The club has been linked with several takeovers over the Cellino years and nothing has come of them.
