Leeds United fans react on Twitter to Pablo Hernandez's performance

Leeds United's Pablo Hernandez scores the winning penalty in the shootout

Pablo Hernandez made his debut for Leeds United against Fleetwood.

Leeds United new boy Pablo Hernandez made his debut for the club last night as they took on League One side Fleetwood Town.

It had looked like being a game to forget as Leeds trailed for the majority of the match after conceding an early opener.

Marcus Antonsson and Chris Wood netted in a 2-2 draw, before the Whites won on penalties.

Hernandez lasted the full 90 minutes and then into extra time, dispelling any concerns fans might have about his fitness.

The former Swansea City playmaker offered an immediate touch of quality, and while he will take some adapting to his new teammates, he appears to be a quality addition.

He was pushing to turn the game back in Leeds' favour late on, having a shot saved shortly before substitute Marcus Antonsson netted an equaliser.

Hernandez netted in the shootout, showing composure after 120 minutes of football, with the score on spot-kicks 5-4.

A concern will be whether the match took too much out of him and whether he is ready to start against Birmingham City at the weekend at Elland Road, but on the evidence of last night there is no way Leeds can afford to leave him out.
