Galatasaray fans have taken to social media platform Twitter to try and convince Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva to join the club, after the Daily Express recently reported that a deal was close to being agreed.

Talks are understood to have taken place between the midfielder and Galatasaray's sporting director Levent Nazifoglu, with Lucas reportedly requesting more time to make a definite decision.

The Brazilian's future has been in doubt all summer, with reports even linking him with a possible reunion with former boss Rafael Benitez at Newcastle United.

But despite the Liverpool Echo last week reporting that current Reds boss Klopp was reluctant to sell the midfielder until he secured sufficient defensive cover within the squad, a move from Anfield looks inevitable.

A move to the Istanbul giants now appears to be close, with Nazifoglu taking to Twitter earlier on Tuesday to say: "We've spoken personally with Lucas Leiva. He asked for one more day. The situation will be clearer by tonight."

That tweet sparked a flurry of activity on social media, with Galatasaray fans keen to voice their opinions while attempting to convince the 29-year-old to join their team.

Whether it's enough to convince Lucas to make the move to Turkey remains to be seen.
