The Scotland international spent much of last season on loan at Leeds.
Leeds United have been linked with plenty of moves this summer, as per usual.
One name that has not been a surprise is Liam Bridcutt. The Sunderland player thrived at Elland Road on loan last season and the two clubs have been working hard to thrash out a deal most of the summer.
However, with the season now underway, Leeds have failed to tie down the deal.

Leeds need to bring in a player in Bridcutt’s position and it appears they may have begun to move on from the Sunderland star.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post the Leeds United manager has now made enquiries regarding the signature of a different Premier League midfielder.
There is no comment on who the player might be but it appears Leeds are no longer banking on the arrival of the Scotland international Bridcutt at Elland Road this summer.
Leeds United's Toumani Diagouraga looks dejected at the end of match
Leeds started with Ronaldo Vieira and Toumani Diagouraga in sitting midfield v QPR. The former is young and inexperienced whilst the latter is fairly limited.
A recruit in this position is necessary and Leeds appear to be diverting their attentions elsewhere.
