Several of Sunderland’s top youngsters were in training with the first-team this week.

Number 43 Michael Ledger is an uncompromising central defender who is clearly earning a place in Moyes’ thinking.

He will be hoping he makes enough of a mark during training to help Sunderland throughout the season.

Number 45 is Tom Robson. The pacey left-back made his debut for the first-team against Watford last term.

Californian attacker Gooch wears the number 46 and will be hoping to make his breakthrough at Sunderland this season.

Number 47 is the man of the moment regarding the younger players – Joel Asoro.

The Swedish talent has impressed in pre-season and it is rumoured the 17-year-old might get a chance in the Premier League.
